UPPER VALLEY RESIDENCE
EL PASO, TEXAS
|
Our client wanted to build a contemporary house on an infill lot in the established Upper Valley neighborhood of west El Paso Texas. Thought very different than its neighbors, this modern stucco house responds to its environment by embracing the desert light and climate, but also by addressing the notions of scale and solid vs. void inherent within the neighborhood.
The concrete colored stucco mass is complimented by large glass areas while the interior offers the owner a rich environment with dark stained concrete floors, warm wood and plaster finishes. The architect's choice of recycled concrete cylinders for the open courtyard enclosure not only helps to reduce the overall construction cost by eliminating the need of entire footing but also adds an aesthetic touch to the front elevation of the building. |
